APPLICATION GUIDE FOR CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP——UNIVERSITY PROGRAM（B）

I. Scholarship Categories and Application

(i) Categories

       Two categories: Post-graduates of High Level program and the Silk Road program.

(ii) How to Apply

      Upload all the application documents as an attachment to the online application system of CAA 

（https://caa.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx）.The incomplete application documents will not be processed.

(iii) Application deadline

Post-graduates of High Level program: March 9,2025

Silk Road program: May 19, 2025

II. Supporting Categories, Duration and Majors
(i)Supporting Categories

the Post-graduates of High Level program sponsors postgraduates including masters and doctors;

Silk Road program sponsors undergraduates and postgraduates including masters and doctors(the Belt & Road countries only,https://www.yidaiyilu.gov.cn/country);

(ii) Duration

The Chinese Government Scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language (preparatory) study. The language courses last one year, whereas the duration of the scholarship for major study conforms to that as required.

(iii)Majors

Include all majors CAA provides for foreign students.

III. Scholarship Coverage

(i) . Tuition fees;

(ii) .Free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy;

(iii) .Stipend;

Undergraduates: CNY 2,500 per month;

Master’s students/general scholars: CNY 3,000 per month;

Doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 3,500 per month.

(iv) .Comprehensive medical insurance.

CNY 800 per person per year;

CNY 400 per person (for programs lasting less than six months)

IV. Eligibility Requirements

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. 

2.  Education background and age limit:

- Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have high school degree. (within the ages of 18-25 years of age)

- Applicants for master’s degree studies must have bachelor’s degree (applicants must be under the age of 35).

- Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree (applicants must be under the age of 40).

3.Applicants should have a competitive academic record.

4.  Applicants should not be beneficiaries of any other scholarships.

5. Language proficiency requirements:

- Applicants for Chinese-taught programs:

Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have passed HSK level 3 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. (Original copy of HSK should be submitted when enrollment.)

Applicants for master’s & doctoral degree studies must have passed HSK level 4 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. (Original copy of HSK should be submitted when enrollment.)

If the Chinese level does not meet the requirements for admission to the major (HSK4 for undergraduate , master and doctoral students), the applications must study Chinese language for one year before you go to study major. 

- There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs, but they (except for English native speakers) must have an internet-based TOEFL test score 90 or IELTS test score 6.5 (or above). 

V. Application Materials 

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship, filled in Chinese or in English, pasted with a recent photograph (white background, 35mm×45mm in size).

Applicants shall fill in and submit application form via the CSC Online Application System for Study in China("http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/"). Agency No. of China Academy of Art is 10355.

2. The application material that Regulations for International Students Application of Undergraduate Study or Master’s degree Students or PhD. Students:(https://caa.at0086.cn/site/admission.html)

(1) Copy of Passport Home Page. If the validity of the applicant’s current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before September 2022), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

(2) One recent ID photo (Photo format: colored 35*53mm ID photo, white background without hat, head takes up no less than 2/3 of photo size, photo size not less than 320*240 pixels, aspect ratio 4:3, size 100-500kb, JPG format.)

(3) Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Students should provide certificate of student status. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(4) Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English; 

(5) Certificate of No Criminal Record（Chinese or English）. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non- Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.

 (6) A study plan proposal in CAA. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 2,000 characters or words; the proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor;

 (7)  Recommendation letters. Two letters of recommendation (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors shall be submitted. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities both in China and abroad.  (8)  Applicants must submit the applicants’ profile and own art works (Applicants must provide for a painting album of design works. Please note title and size for each work). Applicants for art history or art theory must submit a 2000 words paper. For detailed introduction of different majors, please visit this website: https://caa.at0086.cn/site/admission.html.

 (9) Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The original should be kept by the applicant. The form is designed by the Chinese quarantine authority and can be obtained from the dispatching authority. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Please provide a list of chest X-ray pictures and blood test reports. Incomplete records or those without signature of physician or official stamp of hospital, applicant’s photograph with no check mark are NOT acceptable. Please choose appropriate time to take medical examination due to 6-months validity of the medical results.

（10）Scan copy of tuberculosis Examination Report. Applicants must be tested for Tuberculosis in a certified hospital or laboratory. The results are valid for six months.

(11) Applicants for Chinese-taught programs: Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have passed HSK level 3 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. Applicants for master’s & doctoral degree studies must have passed HSK level 4 and submit scanned copies of their certificates. If the Chinese level does not meet the requirements for admission to the major (HSK5 for undergraduate students, HSK5 for master and doctoral students), the applications must study Chinese language for one year before you go to study major. （The HSK certificate is valid for 2 years）

- There are no Chinese language proficiency requirements for the applicants of English-taught programs, but they (except for English native speakers) must have an internet-based TOEFL test score 90 or IELTS test score 6.5 (or above). 

(12)  Photocopy of bank receipt for transferring the 800 yuan RMB application fee (application fee cannot be paid through on-line bank).

All application materials should be submitted to log-on to the China Academy of Art, International College website (https://caa.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx). Please fill out and submit the application on line, according to instructions.

 The incomplete application materials will not be processed.

Note: After receiving the application materials, the university will check applicant’s information and process the application via CSC Online Application System for Study in China ("http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/"). If applicants re-fill or modify the application information at Online Application System after they submit application materials, they need resend the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship to China Academy of Art online; otherwise the university may not be able to process the application via CSC Online Application System for Study in China.

VI. Application Process

1.An applicant shall apply directly to CAA for the scholarship according the requirements.

2.The selection method of "preliminary examination + interview" is implemented in admission assessment. The applicant in China Academy of Art(CAA) after complete the online application for international student enrollment system, by the  International College to qualification review of the applicant, through the first trial, conducted by professional faculty professional review and organize the interview (interviews unity in the form of online examination through the network to carry out the basic selection, mainly review the applicant's Chinese ability, professional ability, academic research ability, etc.), finally according to the results, a comprehensive evaluation on merit. The name list of the scholarship awardees for postgraduate programs will be sent to China Scholarship Council for review. And the relevant applicant will also be informed.

3.An applicant shall fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://www.campuschina.org）.The code of the receiving agency is 10355.

4.The college of CAA shall submit the recommended candidates list and their application documents to the The China Scholarship Council.

5.The China Scholarship Council will organize designated universities and experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates.

6. After the name list is reviewed and approved by China Scholarship Council, the scholarship awardees will be notified by the university in June and Admission Notice with other relevant documents will be sent to them in July.

VII. Notes

1. Scholarship students' affairs are managed according to the relevant regulations of Chinese Government Scholarship. Scholarship students must go through the Annual Review of the Chinese Government Scholarship Status. If students fail in Annual Review, their scholarship will be terminated.

2. Scholarship students are not allowed to change their institutions as well as their academic programs or the duration of study specified in the Admission Notice.

3. For scholarship students who have to suspend their studies due to illness must return to their home country for further treatment and recovery, expenses for the international travel to and from the university will be borne by the students themselves, and their scholarship status will be reserved for one year at most, with the monthly living allowance stopped during the suspension. Scholarships of the students who suspend their studies for reasons other than illness will not be reserved.

4. The International College of CAA is responsible for the interpretation of the scholarship granting procedures and regulations.

ZHEJIANG PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS （SELF FUNDED STUDENTS)

I. Scholarship Types and Standards 

Scholarship Types:

Scholarships include three types, A, B, for use in providing support to outstanding foreign students.

The scholarship is used to provide support for registration fees, tuition fees, books and materials fees, student housing and accommodation, serious disease/illness and accidental insurance fees. Please see below for details on the different scholarship types.

Type A: 30000RMB/year. For foreign students enrolled in graduate programs (Master’s Degree; Doctoral Degree).

Type B: 20000RMB/year. For foreign students enrolled in Bachelor Degree Programs.

Applicants should follow the scholarship regulations according to each different type (A,B) and submit a written application to the International college. The scholarship application process is held once a year. Eligible applicants can apply multiple times, consecutively.

II. Open to All Majors/Areas of Study

Scholarships are open to all majors of study at the China Academy of Art.

III. Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

1.International freshmen applicats who are friendly to China,in good health,excellent in major at the time of admission,and who are good in morality and study well during your studies.

2. Applicants for Bachelor’s degree programs should be under the age of 30. Applicants for Master’s degree programs should be under the age of 35. Doctoral degree programs should be under the age of 40. Every year, all students will be ranked and considered for scholarships, based on the quality of their grades and academic performance.

3. Applicants may not be current beneficiaries of any other scholarships at the time of application.

4. Applicants should actively participate in various activities organized by the government of zhejiang province and the school.

III. Application Timeline:

The first week of the first semester of each academic year shall be submitted to the office of the department for examination and approval. （The specific time will be notified separately）

IV. Application Procedures:

1. Please Login to http://admission.caa.edu.cn/ and under the section “Downloads”, download and complete the “Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students Application Form” and submit it to the office of the department for examination.After the examination and approval of the department, the department shall be submitted to International College for examination and approval. 

2. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the International College of CAA in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for selecting “Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarships for Foreign Students”. The International College will review all application materials and based on each applicant’s overall competiveness will select and recommend qualified candidates to be approved by the Academy’s university-level nominating committee.

3. Based on the selection the Academy’s university-level nominating committee, those individuals selected to receive scholarships will be announced and posted on the school’s bulletin the following week. Every September, successful applicants will also be reported to the Education Department of the Provincial Government of Zhejiang Province.

V. Application Materials:

All application materials are in duplicate, including:

1. Application Form of Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students;

2. Notarized copies of academic certificates and transcripts;

3. Passport copy;

4. Health certificate;

5. Master and doctoral candidates should submit 2 recommendation letters.

CHINA ACADEMY OF ART SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS（SELF-FUNDED STUDENTS）

I. Scholarship Types and Standards

1. Doctoral Students: 40000RMB/year

2. Master’s Students: 30000RMB/year

3. Bachelor’s Students: 20000RMB/year

II. Open to All Majors/Areas of Study

Scholarships are open to all majors of study at the China Academy of Art.

III. Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

1. Applicants should be those who have already been awarded the “Zhejiang Provincial Government Scholarship for Foreign Students”（include Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, and General/Advanced Study students).

2. Applicants should have no academic penalties or debts on record. Applicants will be evaluated and selected based on their academic transcripts and overall academic performance.

3. Applicants should actively participate in various activities organized by the government of zhejiang province and the school.

III. Application Timeline:

The application shall be submitted to the department office for approval in the first week of the second semester of each academic year.（The specific time will be notified separately）

IV. Application Procedures:

1. Please login to http://admission.caa.edu.cn/ and under the section, “Downloads”, download and complete the “China Academy of Art Scholarship for Foreign Students Application Form” and submit it to the department office, CAA.After the examination and approval of the department, the department shall be submitted to International College for examination and approval.

2. Submitted applications will be reviewed by the International College of CAA in accordance with the Rules and Regulations for selecting “China Academy of Art Scholarships for Foreign Students”. The International College will review all application materials and based on each applicant’s overall competiveness will recommend qualified applicants to be approved by the Academy’s university-level nominating committee.

3. Based on the selection the Academy’s university-level nominating committee, those students are selected to receive scholarships will be announced and posted on the school’s bulletin and awarded scholarships.

V. Application Materials:

Note: Application forms must been reviewed and signed by the student’s current Advisor/Tutor and reviewed by his/her academic department with an official seal.

2. Academic Transcript (Academic Transcripts must be officially notarized by the Departments or Academic Affairs Office or Office of the Dean for Graduate Students.)

Note: Scholarships are determined in March every year. Those candidates selected by the school will thereby be awarded scholarships for one year.
